FESTIVAL PROCEEDS

Miami Conservancy District's Great Miami River Recreation Trail in Warren and Butler counties existed on plans for many years. MCD is working closely with political entities in Warren and Butler counties to turn plans into pavement!

A 28-mile extension of the Great Miami River recreation trail is planned from Crains Run Park in southern Montgomery County to the City of Hamilton. The Great Miami River Recreation Trail follows the Great Miami River and the towpath of the Miami and Erie through Warren and Butler County through the cities of Franklin, Middletown and Hamilton. When complete, the trail will connect cyclists, walkers and skaters with over 150 miles of existing trail in Montgomery, Greene, Clark, Warren and Clermont counties.

Miami Conservancy District staff is working hard to identify funding sources to connect the trail in the "middle" - through the City of Middletown, Lemon Township, Monroe, Liberty Township and Fairfield Township.

When complete, the trail will link schools, parks, historic sites and a population of more than 600,000 people.

In today's world, the opportunity to recreate in dedicated green space is incredibly important.

  • Trail use improves health and fitness, reduces stress and improves self esteem.
  • Trails provide safe and enjoyable fun for all ages.
  • Trails help us connect with nature and enhance our lives
  • Trails preserve natural land and open spaces.
  • Trails enhance property values
  • Trails provide opportunities to use alternative modes of transportation.
